Where we started
Ka Māmalahoe Canoe Club was founded in 2001 by Scott Thompson and Russell Swaney as a small, community-based outrigger paddling club. Driven by their love for the sport, they established the club to expand paddling opportunities. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2007, the club is led by a board of directors and is dedicated to serving the community, supporting families, and preserving culture. Members volunteer with Mālama Nā Koa to offer adaptive outrigger paddling programs for injured military personnel and disabled veterans.
The mission of Ka Māmalahoe Canoe Club is to:
Be of service to the community
Celebrate family
Perpetuate our culture
